Abstract
This research paper studies the procedure of inclusive education for people with disabilities through the vision of the struggle for human rights and social justice. The analysis is based on two key assumptions: it approaches disability as a social construction and considers that social and educational exclusion of disabled people is the result of structural and social barriers which create unequal relations of dominance.
The research focuses on the field of Special Education in order to examine the conditions under which the policy of inclusion is implemented and the relevance of applied school practices with the ideological value framework established by the inclusion. Determining the role of the teacher as a critical factor in the implementation of integration policies, it explores how teachers incorporate notions of integration and proceed to plan their teaching strategies. The survey findings conclude that teachers implement selective inclusion, without incorporating the ideological dimension in their daily practices. They follow the traditional teaching strategies and adapt their activities in the restricted normative character of the existing educational system. During the discussion it is noted that the absence of a theoretical and regulatory framework for integration constitutes the implementation vague and vulnerable leaving it to the individual initiatives of educators.
