| el |

dc.description.abstracttranslated | In recent years, inclusion in education has been a central issue in the education policy of many
states, including Greece. The inclusive school is a "School for All", interested in the equal
participation of all its members in education and responding to the different educational needs of
all students. However, the question arises as to whether the general school is ready to offer the
necessary resources and help to meet these educational needs.
Teachers as key players in the educational process play an important role in promoting any
educational reform and thus implementing the inclusion in the general school. Therefore, the
subject of this postgraduate dissertation is the recording and the exploration of the views and
attitudes of sixteen teachers who serve in four General Lyceums of the Prefecture of Attica
regarding the inclusion of high school students in general lyceum, the educational practices that
teachers also apply and the factors that impede or facilitate the practical implementation of
inclusion in Greece.
The research tool for conducting the research is semi-structured interview, while data processing
is based on a qualitative method of content analysis. According to the research findings, the views
of the sample teachers are generally positive towards inclusion, but are governed by internal
contradictions. On the one hand, they acknowledge the value of inclusive education and strongly
criticize their vulnerable education system, and on the other hand the individuals attached to the
individual approach to diversity find it difficult to adopt or even ignore the educational practices
that promote inclusion in the educational act, thus reproducing the conditions of educational
exclusion. Potential springboard in order to consolidate the inclusion culture in the educational
process is the vocational training of teachers with emphasis on the heterogeneity of the student
population and on the new educational inclusive practices. | el |
