dc.description.abstractΗ διπλωματική εργασία με τίτλο «Το Μοντέλο Διαπραγμάτευσης της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας με την Ε.Ε και το Δ.Ν.Τ στα πλαίσια συνομολόγησης και εφαρμογής του Προγράμματος Οικονομικής Πολιτικής: Επιτυχία ή αποτυχία;» εξετάζει την κυπριακή οικονομική κρίση του 2013, τα αίτια που την προκάλεσαν και τη διαδικασία διαπραγμάτευσης με τους διεθνείς θεσμούς για την επίλυση της. Η εργασία αναλύει την πορεία της κυπριακής οικονομίας από την περίοδο της ισχυρής ανάπτυξης (2000–2008) μέχρι την κατάρρευση, υπογραμμίζοντας τις δομικές μακροοικονομικές ανισορροπίες, τον υπερδιογκωμένο τραπεζικό τομέα και την απουσία διαρθρωτικών παρεμβάσεων πριν την προσφυγή σε εξωτερική βοήθεια. Ειδική έμφαση δίνεται στις καθυστερήσεις της εσωτερικής πολιτικής ηγεσίας, στην ανυπαρξία μηχανισμών πρόληψης κινδύνων και τη στενή διασύνδεση της κυπριακής κρίσης με την ελληνική κρίση χρέους, που επιτάχυναν την κατάρρευση της και την προσφυγή στο Ευρωπαϊκό Μηχανισμό Στήριξης και το Διεθνές Νομισματικό Ταμείο. Τέλος, επισημαίνονται τα οφέλη και οι προκλήσεις από την εφαρμογή του Μνημονίου και ένα πιθανό μοντέλο αντιμετώπισης παρόμοιων κρίσεων στο μέλλον από άλλα μικρά κράτη για τα οποία η Κύπρος θα μπορούσε να αποτελέσει πρότυπο.el
dc.description.abstracttranslatedThe master's thesis entitled "The Negotiation Model of the Republic of Cyprus with the EU and the IMF within the Framework of Concluding and Implementing the Economic Policy Programme: Success or Failure?" examines the Cypriot economic crisis of 2013, its underlying causes, and the negotiation process with international institutions aimed at its resolution. The study analyzes the trajectory of the Cypriot economy from a period of strong growth (2000–2008) to its eventual collapse, highlighting structural macroeconomic imbalances, the oversized banking sector, and the absence of structural reforms prior to the recourse to external assistance. Particular emphasis is placed on the delays of the domestic political leadership, the lack of effective risk prevention mechanisms, and the close interconnection between the Cypriot crisis and the Greek sovereign debt crisis, which accelerated the island’s economic downfall and its subsequent appeal to the European Stability Mechanism and the International Monetary Fund. Finally, the thesis underscores the benefits and challenges arising from the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding and proposes a potential model for addressing similar crises in the future, suggesting that Cyprus could serve as a paradigm for other small states facing comparable circumstances.el
