| dc.description.abstract | Στόχος της παρούσας ποιοτικής έρευνας είναι να διερευνήσει τις εμπειρίες και τις αντιλήψεις των συμμετεχόντων, γονέων παιδιών με νοητική αναπηρία που συμμετέχουν σε αθλητικές δραστηριότητες, με στόχο να αποτυπώσει τους ανασταλτικούς και ενθαρρυντικούς παράγοντες συμμετοχής στον αθλητισμό. Στην έρευνα συμμετείχαν δέκα γονείς, οι οποίοι είχαν έντεκα παιδιά που λάμβαναν ενεργά μέρος σε οργανωμένα αθλητικά προγράμματα. Η συλλογή των δεδομένων έγινε μέσω ημιδομημένων συνεντεύξεων και τα δεδομένα αναλύθηκαν με τη μέθοδο της θεματικής ανάλυσης. Από την ανάλυση αναδείχθηκαν τρεις κύριες θεματικές ενότητες με τις υποκατηγορίες τους. Αφού καταγράφηκαν τα δημογραφικά χαρακτηριστικά των συμμετεχόντων, η πρώτη θεματική ενότητα αναδείκνυε τους ανασταλτικούς παράγοντες άθλησης, όπως το υψηλό κόστος συμμετοχής, η έλλειψη χρόνου, η περιορισμένη διαθεσιμότητα κατάλληλων αθλητικών δραστηριοτήτων και άλλες δυσκολίες που εμφανίζονταν κατά την άθληση. Η δεύτερη ενότητα εστίαζε στους ενθαρρυντικούς παράγοντες, οι οποίοι συνδέονταν με τα πολλαπλά οφέλη της άθλησης, τον ρόλο των φίλων ως κίνητρο και την άθληση των ίδιων των γονέων ως πρότυπο. Τέλος, η τρίτη θεματική περιλάμβανε τις προτάσεις τους για την ενίσχυση της υποστήριξης προς τις οικογένειες και τα παιδιά με νοητική αναπηρία στον αθλητισμό. Μέσα από την ανάλυση αναδείχθηκε ότι η πλειονότητα των γονέων θεωρεί ως βασικό εμπόδιο το υψηλό κόστος συμμετοχής στις αθλητικές δραστηριότητες, ενώ αρκετές φορές επισημάνθηκε και η έλλειψη χρόνου. Επιπλέον, αρκετοί γονείς αναφέρθηκαν στις περιορισμένες επιλογές κατάλληλων δραστηριοτήτων και τις δυσκολίες που συναντούσαν τα παιδιά τους κατά την άσκηση. Από την άλλη, ως σημαντικό κίνητρο για τη συνέχιση της άθλησης αναδείχθηκαν τα οφέλη για την υγεία και η ψυχοκοινωνική ανάπτυξη των παιδιών που προσφέρεται μέσα από την άθληση. Επίσης, τονίστηκε η θετική επίδραση της παρουσίας φίλων, ενώ για ορισμένους γονείς καταλυτικό ρόλο διαδραμάτισε το γεγονός ότι οι ίδιοι συμμετείχαν σε αθλητικές δραστηριότητες. Η μελέτη συμβάλλει στην κατανόηση των εμπειριών των γονέων παιδιών με νοητική αναπηρία, αναδεικνύοντας κρίσιμους παράγοντες που επηρεάζουν τη συμμετοχή τους στην άθληση παρέχοντας παράλληλα πρακτικές προτάσεις με στόχο την ενίσχυση της πρόσβασης και της συμμετοχής τους σε αθλητικές δραστηριότητες. | el |
| dc.description.abstracttranslated | The aim of this qualitative research is to investigate the experiences and perceptions of participants, parents of children with intellectual disabilities who participate in sports activities, with the aim of identifying the limiting and encouraging factors for participation in sports. Ten parents participated in the study, who had eleven children actively participating in organized sports programs. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The analysis underlined three main thematic areas with their subcategories. After recording the demographic characteristics of the participants, the first thematic area highlighted the factors that discourage participation in sports, such as the high cost of participation, lack of time, limited availability of suitable sports activities, and other difficulties encountered when participating in sports. The second section focused on encouraging factors, which were linked to the multiple benefits of sports, the role of friends as motivation, and the participation of the parents themselves in sports as a role model. Finally, the third thematic area included their suggestions for strengthening the support towards families and children with intellectual disabilities in sports. The analysis showed that most parents consider the high cost of participating in sports activities to be a major obstacle, while the lack of time was also mentioned several times. In addition, several parents mentioned the limited choices of suitable activities and the difficulties their children faced when exercising. On the other hand, the health benefits offered to children by sports, as well as the psychosocial development that they provide, were portrayed as important motivation to continue participating in sports. The positive influence of friends was also emphasized, while for some parents, their own participation in sports activities played a highly important role. The study contributes to the understanding of the experiences of parents of children with intellectual disabilities, highlighting critical factors that influence their participation in sports while providing practical recommendations aimed at enhancing their access to and participation in sports activities. | el |
